I Am Overwhelmed With My New Puppy And Regretting My Decision.?

I have wanted a dog my entire life( I am in my 40′s)
For many reasons I was never able to. Not allowed as a child, then I lived in places that didn’t allow dogs. I had two cats that passed away a few months ago. One was 15 died of cancer the other 11 died of complications from diabetes.
I was finally in a position where I could get a dog. I thought this was what I wanted. I purchased a Westie last week. He is sweet and training well.
I’m however overwhelmed with the responsibility and am regretting my decision. I’m worried about the costs of raising him(which I thought I’d thought through) Both my my cats required years of twice daily medication. There were thousands of dollars in vet bills at the end.
I’m embarrassed to talk to friends about this, but find myself wondering daily if the breeder would take him back.
I should mention I live alone and am caring for this puppy on my own and have hired a dog walker.
Help.. Please..

Are Westies Good With New Puppy’s?

I have a 8 year old female westie that has been fixed that lives inside and I am thinking about getting a male German Shepherd. Im worried about her reaction towards a new dog. I am also worried about not being able to show her as much attention when the new puppy arrives because I know I will be spending lots of time training and exercising with the german shepherd. Please let me know what I should do.

Half Way Through Housetraining With My 5 Month Westie Puppy?

I have been trying to take my puppy out before bedtime to ensure his bowel is empty so he could last for the night before I take him out 6am in the morning but he didn’t like to pee at night. I have been cleaning his mistake every morning for a week already. What can I do to resolve this? I would really like to paper train him at the same time so he could release himself at the right spot inside if he couldn’t hold it, is it possible and how?
here’s the my puppy schedule:
* 6am (tried out with pup but he already peed on the floor inside the apartment)
* 7am feed
* 8am out with pup
* 12:30pm out with pup
* 4:30pm out with pup
* 7pm feed

Having Problems With 7 Month Old Westie Pup Weeing In The House?

Hi my wetie pup has just done a wee on my daughters bed, I’m really worried that we will never get her house trained!!!
We had her trained to use puppy pads by 10 weeks old.
She stop using these herself when she was 4 months, now however she has started to go for a wee around the house, weeing on my daughers bed is a first though. she know to go to the door if she wants out, and does this most of the time, I feel that we are going backwards. Any suggestion??? thanks.

Me Again With My Westie!?

How can I get him to calm down around other dogs?? when he sees another dog he goes absolutely mental jumping all over them and licking them to death…he is not aggressive at all but so way over the top and over excitable, I took him to training lessons when he was younger and he is really good with being off the lead sitting at the road waiting for food etc….but i still could not get him to calm down around other dogs…in the end I stopped taking him to the classes as he was disruptive…it’s not like he has not been around dogs as a baby because he has 4 other dog friends in the family which he has grown up with but he jumps all over them too…..he is nearly 1.

Help With My Westie Searches?

Hey! I really want a westie puppy 8-12 months. Male. A playfull healthy puppy cause i really care about every animal. I really don’t want to deal with agression issues so avoid that if possible. My mom has been looking for a westie to but we both can’t find one. It would be a bonus if it was trained and i was hoping to find it 300$ or under. and it would be really cute hopefully! If possible i want him to be from a rescue center so i can save him. thanks! EASY TEN POINTS!

My Westie Has Lived With Us For 5 Months And Is Still Not Potty Trained. Help Please!!!!?

We have a West Highland White Terrier. She is the cutest dog we’ve ever had and one of the best. She behaves well around strangers and likes children (too hyper for babies though). She gets plenty of attention and someone is home all day everyday with her. Yet she still goes to the bathroom in the house. She may do good for about 3 or 4 days but then she has an accident again. It’s horrible. I mean we shampoo our carpets all the time because we try to get the smell out so she knows that this is where you don’t go to the bathroom. What can I do to potty train my dog. She has accidents also when people come over. That is so embarrassing. We think that may be from overstimulation, because she is so little and people all love her and want to go to her at one time. Anyways. I desperately need your help to fix this problem with my dog. The rest of my family has just about given up.

Help With A Westie??

hi,
my mother got a white westie from the dog pound the other day, as far as we know she in 3 and neutered. my mother has a jack russell who she has had for 9 years this dog is trained completely. now when the westie goes to toilet she is doing it all over the back garden (the other dog goes out into the field) is there a way to get her to use one place or go into the field? also today she went out and rolled in all the sh**, my poor mother has just puked her ring up from the state of the dog?
any suggestins please….no smart comments i not in mood for them
