Me Again With My Westie!?

How can I get him to calm down around other dogs?? when he sees another dog he goes absolutely mental jumping all over them and licking them to death…he is not aggressive at all but so way over the top and over excitable, I took him to training lessons when he was younger and he is really good with being off the lead sitting at the road waiting for food etc….but i still could not get him to calm down around other dogs…in the end I stopped taking him to the classes as he was disruptive…it’s not like he has not been around dogs as a baby because he has 4 other dog friends in the family which he has grown up with but he jumps all over them too…..he is nearly 1.

Is This Okay For A Five Year Old Westie?

he is outside or closd off in a room or in a crate from 1030 -3oo o clock on weekdays during school and he is fed iams food half a cup at 8 and another at 4 he is able to reach water outside mainly on weekends hes out side on a tie out (thats what i meen by a outside ) and i walk him alot and he has toys available is this healthy? how would i house train with a life like this? should i keep on like this or keep him as an inside dog?? thx so much any1 who sees pleez answer!!!!

Westie & Crate?

The night we got him, my westie would sleep in my german shepherds old cage. Now, I got him another crate, that is for his size. He can stand up turn around and sit and lie down. But I feel really bad because I keep thinking he needs a bigger cage. Right now, he’s not potty trained and thats what I want to do with him. In his new crate, he whines for 10 minutes( second day we got him), but then I think he looks sad. Should I get him a bigger one?:S

Hey! I really want a westie puppy 8-12 months. Male. A playfull healthy puppy cause i really care about every animal. I really don’t want to deal with agression issues so avoid that if possible. My mom has been looking for a westie to but we both can’t find one. It would be a bonus if it was trained and i was hoping to find it 300$ or under. and it would be really cute hopefully! I Just Bought A Westie And A Scottie Pup.both Female And 3 Months Old.i Need Some Help From Anyone?

I bought a crate for them wanting to crate train them to be housebroken.The scottie has been doing well but the westie is way beyond anything.I m feeling very frustrated cos she would poo and pee in her crate,even I took the advice from the vet to make the space so small that can only contain the pup herself. The scottie would never soil her crate,despite she has a bed inside.Every morning when I opened the door,she would go straight to the paper to get things done.But never the westie.She even eats up the poo whenever she sees it.I dont know what more I can do..6 days already and every morning there would be a bad mess inside the crate and she lying on it,which means I would have to bath her daily.Please help….

I’m fifteen, and I’d be the primary care giver. What are your experiences with Westies? Is there much personality variation between male and female? Are they easy to potty train?

It’s Coming Into Winter Here And My Sisters Westie Puppies Are Getting Colder..?

she uses 2nd hand cot quilts and bunny rugs for their bed. she also has a heat pad but it makes them pee in their sleep..
she puts a training pad up the other end of their bed for them to poo and wee on during the night, lately they are wetting the whole of their bed and my sister is gettin them out every 2 hours to pee on their training pad on the floor. my sister is washing puppy rugs and sheets every day and shes wondering if they are wetting the bed because they are so cold at night? and whats the best way to keep the puppies warm during the night? and why wont the puppies sleep in their bed even if the sheets are clean? they prefer the carpet in the corner if the lounge, and they howl constantly when their in their bed…but are quiet when on the floor. is she teaching them if they howl they recieve attention and it means they can climb out their bed and get on the floor whenever they howl? or are they trying to get their own way by howling excessivley?

My Westie Has Lived With Us For 5 Months And Is Still Not Potty Trained. Help Please!!!!?

We have a West Highland White Terrier. She is the cutest dog we’ve ever had and one of the best. She behaves well around strangers and likes children (too hyper for babies though). She gets plenty of attention and someone is home all day everyday with her. Yet she still goes to the bathroom in the house. She may do good for about 3 or 4 days but then she has an accident again. It’s horrible. I mean we shampoo our carpets all the time because we try to get the smell out so she knows that this is where you don’t go to the bathroom. What can I do to potty train my dog. She has accidents also when people come over. That is so embarrassing. We think that may be from overstimulation, because she is so little and people all love her and want to go to her at one time. Anyways. I desperately need your help to fix this problem with my dog. The rest of my family has just about given up.

One Year Old Westie?

i have a one year old westie ***** ,she had her first season in march and is fully house trained dry in the house etc until a few days ago she has started weeing in the house instead of going outside ,there is always acess to the garden and she gets regular walks i dont know why she is doing this all of a sudden i thought it may be a puberty thing in bitches.has anyone else experienced this problem and if so the solution …thanks
