Thanks :)

I Just Got An 8 Week Old West Highland White Terrier Puppy. He Is Perfect, Besides His Pooping.?

He poops about 6 times an hour, which is obviously quite excessive, and he seems to strain himself when he poops. He sometimes whimpers. He isn’t constipated because each time he tries, he poops. The poop isn’t very hard or very soft, it’s right about in the middle. I don’t understand what would be making this happen. He eats fine, doesn’t throw up, and is active. He just has this pooping problem.
We feed him on a regular schedule. Once in the morning and once at night. We feed him purina beneful for puppies.

What Is The Weight Of A 9 Week Old West Highland White Terrier Puppy!? Grown They Are An Avg Of 17 Pounds?

Mine was roughly 3 lbs when I picked him up. In the first year he will probably only get up to roughly 13 lbs. They start filling out after the first year (after they are done growing).

What Is The Most Effective Way To Potty Train A 10 Week Old Puppy?

She is a female Westie, and she isn’t getting the message. Whenever she does her business in the house, I say NO firmly then stick her nose close to it then immediately take her outside. This doesn’t seem to be working. Any suggestions?

15 Week Old Westie Turned ‘evil’?

My parents have a Westie who is 15 Weeks Old and for the past 5 weeks he’s been fine. He used to always come to us when we shouted him name, he would sit when we said sat and we was in the middle of training him to lie down and he was perfectly happy to do so. And on walks he would be happy to come along and wouldn’t bark at people.
And then suddenly yesterday when we tried to take him for a walk and he refused to to walk most of the time, he was barking at people, trying to bite us and ignoring us when we told him to Sit or for him to come to us.
And it’s still happening today. What should we do? We’re not sure how this happened.

Aps-westie Mix 8 Week Old Puppy?

How much should a 2.1 kg westie mix 8 week old puppy be eating each day?
I’ve brought royal canin mini junior food at the advice of my vet and she said follow the adult weight guide, so going by that she needs 150g a day which sounds like a lot for her. I’m feeding her three times a day and putting out 50g each time. She’s only eating 25g at each meal though.
Should I be worried or should I throw out the 150g guide line and just go by what she wants?
Also we’re in the middle of a really hot spell at home and she still won’t settle at night. I’ve put a ticking clock and a night light where she’s sleeping but I’m worried that a hot water bottle or the like will overheat her in the night, is there something else I can try until it cools down a bit?
And how do we toilet train her at night? We’ve got the day time sorted, there are still little accidents but she lets us know if she’s had an accident and we’re taking her out hourly into the garden, but what do I do at night? I feed her three hours before she goes to sleep but I leave water out for her all night just in case.
My other two dogs had toilet-training sorted when I rescued them so I never had to go through all this.
It’s a huge learning curve and any info you can pass on to a first time puppy owner would be appreciated.

10 Week Old Westie Puppy Help!!!!!!!!!!?

I have a 10 week old westie puppy that is having potty training issues. He will definitly go outside, but will come right back in the house and urinate or defecate in his crate. I’ve tried taking him out every hour all night long, every two hours, every four hours. But most days I will wake up and hes already peed, then he gets mad when i have to bathe him. I know he can hold for 4-5 hours because he has done it many times. And one day when he was exhausted from activity, he held for 7 hours. He already knows what SIT means…but he can’t get the concept of going to the bathroom outside. Any suggestions?

I Have A 10 Week Old Westie That Doesn’t Crate Train Well.?

My westie puppy is proving to be hard to potty train. I have tried the crate but she will use the bathroom in the crate and it is not big enough for her to use one end and sleep in the other. She would have been a mess if I hadn’t been watching. She had just been outside the 3 times it has happened and came in and used her crate.I have her in a small penned in area in my kitchen now with puppy pads when I am not home. I take her out first thing in the morning around 5 am, as soon as I get home and approx every hour after untill around 10 at night. She will occasionaly pee outside, but has only deficated once. I praise her and offer puppy treats, the very few times it has happened but… I don’t think it happens often enough for her to make the connection. She will try to hold it while we are outside only to come in and go. Help!!!! I am hoping time will make a difference but I am very frustrated. I want to be able to allow her free reign of the house but that looks to be a long way off. The problem is probably me – I am not used to a dog in the house, but she is a joy in every other way.
