Seven Year Old West Highland White Terrier?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
My 7 year old westie has been showing her age a little more than usual. It takes her forever to get moving in the morning, like her joints need time before she can do anything. She is acting hard of hearing as well.
She eats great food, has a huge yard to run in (and oh does she!), other dogs to play with and a big fluffy pillow at night to sleep on. I dont know what I did wrong to have her be acting so old in just the past year.
Should I start her on a sort of supplement? More excersise?
Is there a way to make her more “puppy-like and playful”?
Thanks!

Bull Terrier Or West Highland White Terrier?!?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
What a dilemma. I have narrowed my top choices down to these two and done a LOT of research on them both. I have had experience with dogs my whole life… in fact, the past couple of months since I’ve moved is the first time I have not had one.
If anyone has ever had either of these two breeds I’d appreciate hearing some of your input! I love them both but definitely can’t afford two puppies. I know they both have positives and negatives. I live in a large flat and my complex has two huge dog run areas and am home most of the day. I don’t have any kids or other pets/people living with me.

I had the most wonderful Westy for about ten years until he died of a heart attack. It broke my heart at the same time. He was a wonderful pet, pal and companion so much so that I could not bring myself to get another. However, whenever I hear the name or see one I am very happy with the memory. My pal Harry………….

West Highland White Terrier Skin Conditions?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Westies are well known for having several skin problems.. You didn’t say wheter it is warts/cycts, or itching..or bare spots or sore and red…
Perhaps this site will help you identify the problem.
If your dog is itching, scratchiing, and chewing her skin, this is a symptom of canine Atopy.. This is a good site to help you understand and deal with this condition..http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/Stor…
At this season, it is likely to be pollen related or mold/mildew..But household cleaners often aggravate the condition..chemicals such as Swiffer Wet jet, Carpet cleaners, air fresheners, etc..
It may be of help to feed a food that doesn’t contain corn or wheat.
