Can You Please Help Me Potty Train My New Puppy?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I have a yorkie/westie mix. She’s a really smart dog, but even when I’m outside with her for hours at a time, she still comes right inside and pees on the carpet.
I’m crate training her, so when I put her in the crate, even if we’ve come inside from being outside a long long time, she’ll pee and poop in the crate.
I’m not leaving her in the crate too long. She doesn’t even give me time to shut the door before she’s peeing in there, and then she makes a point of it to get herself completely soaked in her own urine.
I tried to ask this question before (last night) but most of the answers treated me like I was a complete idiot and left my brand new 11 week old puppy in a cage for 4 hours without giving her the chance to go to the bathroom.
- When she sniffs around, I take her out.
- When she wakes up from a nap, I take her out.
- When she’s finished eating/drinking, we go out for 20 – 30 minutes.
- When she gets up at 4:30 in the morning, usually 3 hours before me, I take her out.
She doesn’t have a “pee place” besides outside. Outside is the only place I need her to pee.
Please, can someone help me given this information?
Last time, the answers were not very helpful, and I’m just needing a hand with this.
Please Help Me! My Dog Marks His Territory! Randomly!?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Please can someone give me some help? I have a westie who is fully house trained, but if something is out of place in the house or something is put somewhere odd he will pee up it!
Today he done it again TWICE!!! My daughter had her friend stay over and this morning the other child put her sleeping bag on my sofa folded up ready for when she goes home, and the dog peed on it. Tonight I decided to get my clothes airer out to dry some stuff and I have just gone in to the room and he has peed up that too. He has not done this for weeks and when he does it, he only does it when I am not in the room. He can go weeks without doing it and then he will just do it out of the blue. He is now almost 3 years old and he was castrated since he was young as he was awful. I have tried everything but I now I feel I have had enough. I have a 7 year old german shepard girl and she would never dream of doing anything in the house!
Please don’t suggest that I catch him in the act because unless I have him shut away that is not going to happen as it is so sporadic. I have used sprays but how can you spray when you have no idea when or where he is going to do it.
Please please someone help me.

My Westie Has Lived With Us For 5 Months And Is Still Not Potty Trained. Help Please!!!!?

We have a West Highland White Terrier. She is the cutest dog we’ve ever had and one of the best. She behaves well around strangers and likes children (too hyper for babies though). She gets plenty of attention and someone is home all day everyday with her. Yet she still goes to the bathroom in the house. She may do good for about 3 or 4 days but then she has an accident again. It’s horrible. I mean we shampoo our carpets all the time because we try to get the smell out so she knows that this is where you don’t go to the bathroom. What can I do to potty train my dog. She has accidents also when people come over. That is so embarrassing. We think that may be from overstimulation, because she is so little and people all love her and want to go to her at one time. Anyways. I desperately need your help to fix this problem with my dog. The rest of my family has just about given up.

Please Help Me House Train My 3 Year Old Westie!!!?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
We have had our much loved Westie for 3 years now but have never been able to get her clean! She will go to the toilet both outside and inside! We ignored her messing in the house and praised her for going outside but nothing has ever changed! We had to get rid of all our carpets and had wooden floor laid everywhere. The main problem is that I’ve got a 2 month old baby now. I don’t know what I’m going to do when he starts crawling? I have had to start thinking about rehoming her. That’s the last thing we want to do so if anyone can help then I would really, really appreciate it!
