West Highland White Terrier, Considering Getting One Need To Know Some More?

I’ve researched for the past few weeks and think i’ve got pretty much the gist of them.
My German Shepherd of 8 years past away just two months ago, and im not getting one of these cute pups till im VERY informed.
Ima a dog nut not just some kid wanting a cute puppy.
I understand they are a terrier breed and will have the terrier temperament though i need some questions answered;
•Would it be okay in a fenced in yard [aware of hole digging] while im at school? Or a crate. Either way he would be secure, but i don’t want him developing anxiety from that time.
•Are they easy to house train?
•I’ve heard so many misconceptions of how to groom them, and that they tend to have loads of allergies like pugs, is this true?
•In the summer, i have a church camp im going to attend to for 2 weeks. There will be family at home, but are they more of a one person dog or a family dog?
• If theres any dog you would like to recomend me please do so. I do want something smaller than 30lbs, and i cant have a Chihuahua or a Dachshund. I’ve had several toy and terrier breeds before so this isn’t new to me. I’ve took many quizzes, called lots of breeders, and did research on akc about these pups, But really if theres ANYTHING i need to know dont hesitate to tell me im more than willing to listen.

It’s Coming Into Winter Here And My Sisters Westie Puppies Are Getting Colder..?

she uses 2nd hand cot quilts and bunny rugs for their bed. she also has a heat pad but it makes them pee in their sleep..
she puts a training pad up the other end of their bed for them to poo and wee on during the night, lately they are wetting the whole of their bed and my sister is gettin them out every 2 hours to pee on their training pad on the floor. my sister is washing puppy rugs and sheets every day and shes wondering if they are wetting the bed because they are so cold at night? and whats the best way to keep the puppies warm during the night? and why wont the puppies sleep in their bed even if the sheets are clean? they prefer the carpet in the corner if the lounge, and they howl constantly when their in their bed…but are quiet when on the floor. is she teaching them if they howl they recieve attention and it means they can climb out their bed and get on the floor whenever they howl? or are they trying to get their own way by howling excessivley?

Im Getting A Westie Pup Soon…?

ok yeah, im probably getting one soon and i chose these dogs since they dont have many health problems…[right?] i wanted to know how much EVERYTHING will be. toys, food, bowls, shots, collars, leeshes, bones, treats, beds ect. Im buying from a breeder but do they come with shots and are they already spayed or whatever? [wouldnt that make sense since they play and are around the other sex dog while with the breeder?]
Also, how hard is it to train my [most likely just above two months] westie to use a litter box? and is it bad if hes alone for about… 8-2? my mom could always drop by at lunch to let him run and stuff and i would take him on maybe half hour-hour walks after school…. would that be fine for the dogs health?

Looking At Getting A Westie……pros And Cons?

A woman who works where my mum does, is moving and cannot take her westie with her. She says it is a year old purebreed, ith all it’s shots, and is good with children. My mum said that I can get it if I choose to, but I wanted to get some answers first.
Are there any common health problems or issues (allergies, infections, arthritis, knee replacements, etc) that are common in westies?
Are they generally good tempered? I have four younger siblings under the age of 10, plus has cousins who are over a lot who are little too, so I don’t want a dog who will snap easily.
Do they require a lot of training? How about exercise?
Has anyone ever done agility with them? (I did it for a few years with my border collie, but most of the dogs were on the medium-big side)
Also I’ll be leaving for college in less than two years, and even though I’ll probably be living off campus and could get a place that allows pets, I still can’t help but wonder if the move would be too much
