West Highland Terrier Owners: Good Family Dog?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I am considering a Westie. I recently fell in love with them. Are they great with children? Are they stubborn – hard to train, etc? Please advise. How about grooming also?
Another Dog To The Family?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Right now I have a german shepherd dog, but I was planning to one day get a westie soon to have time to train it & whatnot before moving out. It wont be for a few more long months. The thing is the german shepherd I have now is what my mom would say is a jealous dog and very over protective. she wont let anyone near me without having sniffed them. she practically treats me like im her daughter. I dont want to get another dog if she’s gonna feel like a leftover. Is there a way to find out how she might react? any stories?
ps. im not planning to leave her out either. i love my dog to death.
Which Dog Fits Best In A Prominent Family Household Of 6: West Highland White Terrier -or- Toy Poodle?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
No offense but does being a “prominent family” mean you have to have a certain type of dog that is “acceptable” to your friends and acquaintances?
It should be what breed of dog best fits your lifestyle and activities. If it is going to be a “see what kind of dog I own” thing, please do not get a dog. They are not commodities or the latest fad. Just because Paris Hilton (or whoever) has a (fill in the breed)___________ dog, doesn’t make it the “thing” to have. Dogs are a lifetime responsibility. Are you prepared for a 10 to 15 year commitment? Vet bills, grooming, boarding if you go out of town? Please do the research on whatever breed you might get to see if the dog matches what you want in a pet/companion.
