I had a cairn terrier and every spring he would lose the hair on his hind quarters from itching and biting. The vet gave me wht he called" itchy pills" it was some type of allergy tablet. Also, hydrocortisone will help to heal it and stop itching if you spray him with that or it comes in creme form also. Neosporin will help to heal the bad spots also. If I were you I'd get him to the vet. They can give you the specifics for your particular dog. Terriers have alot of skin problems.
