West Highland White Terrier Question?

I have found that they are sensitive dogs with food. I was wondering if those with experience could help me in finding the right dog food for her. She just turned a year old and the two dog foods we have given her are:
Science Diet (she got red bumps)
Wellness (gassy)
I just wanted to figure out what was best for her so she can be healthy. Thank You!!

Poorly bred=BYB bred= WHWT are prone to allergies.
The best way to find out to WHAT,is vet testing.

Not a Westie owner, but have one of its Scottish cousins. These terriers are prone to skin allergies. It can be related to foods, frequently grain problems. Also, some lower quality foods and treats contain dyes that can cause allergies. Feed high quality food with meat as the top ingredients and also watch what treats you feed. See the link resource for more info on quality foods.
Another thing to consider is that the dog could have an allergy to flea bites. This is my Scottie’s problem. I have to be diligent with my flea treatments or my guy will chew himself bald.
Since it is winter, the dog could also have dry skin. Running a humidifier in the room where he sleeps can benefit his skin. Good luck. Westies are cuties!

I’ve just purchased a bag of Nature’s Recipe dog food. My dog seems to love it and it’s easy on her tummy (she’s a shepherd/beagle mixed shelter dog). It’s a dog food geared toward food intolerance. I purchased it from my local pet store. It’s about the same price as Science Diet and located in the “premium foods” isle…next to Blue Buffalo and Nutro.

purina lamb and rice or chicken and rice… something that isnt high in fat and doesnt have corn meal as the main ingredient. these different foods are for sensitive systems and should help your puppy =)

I think that the IAMS dog food would be good for it because it has a pic of a westie on it!
