I’m Getting A 3 Month Old West Highland White Terrier….?

and he’s going to be alone until about noon when I check on him on my lunch break, then I come home at 4. How do I potty train him with a crate, and what kinds of toys would be safe to leave with him?

I have a one-year old Westie, and they are great dogs!
When crate training, make sure that there’s something nice and soft for him to rest on, like an old t-shirt or blanket. It’s even better if you can include a used piece of clothing that has your scent on it to help comfort him while you’re away.
When you come home, immediately take your puppy outside to the designated potty area. If after a few minutes he doesn’t relieve himself, take him inside and put him back in the crate. Wait another five to ten minutes and bring him back outside until he relieves himself.
It is very important that you bring him to the same place to potty. Make sure you give him lots of praise (i.e., “Good potty!”) and a small treat to give him positive reinforcement.
Nylabones are great toys for Westies and something soft and squeaky is also a big hit. Make sure there are no small parts that break off or fall off, so that he won’t swallow them.
Hope this helps! Good luck and enjoy your new Westie!

Aw one of my best friends just got a westie. But i no what method u have to do that will work ! Trust me i trained so many dogs lol . Okay so make sure u get a create, and make sure u only give him enough room to lay , so make him a little bed and any extra room where he culd run too or anything block off with a iece of cardboard or something , a dog will never use the bathroom where he sleeps. make sure AS SOON as u take him out the create u let him out and praise him everytime he goes outside . then u can bring him bavk in and play or whatever. but make sure he sleeps in the create untill hes trained ! and never let him out round the house before u let him outside!
