NEVER BUY FROM A PET STORE!!!! These are usually puppy mill dogs and will cost you more in vet bills (and heart break) than a good puppy. Go to AKC.org and look on breeder referral. This will take you to West Highland club of America. Here are good breeders. No good AKC breeder will post puppies for sale anywhere besides a Westie club of America web ring, AKC web ring, and their own site. This means all those pups with AKC papers in pet stores and in papers are probably BYB puppies and you should avoid buying them. They are over priced and usually not cared for so well. People breed these dogs for money instead of breed improvement.
Also try petfinder.com to search for animal shelters in your area with this breed.
