no one can answer this question, as we don’t know where you live, do you mean live permanently or do you mean stay outdoors when your out of the house?
do you live in a place where it snows or reaches hot temperatures during the day? will the dog ever be allowed inside, or do you mean it has to be outside all the time?
Westies like the outdoors, but they are also perfectly happy cuddling on the couch. They are known for liking to dig and can bark a bit if left outside a lot – they are terriers.
Use your common sense, westies are tough little dogs, but I would not recommend leaving it outside at night if you live in a cold zone. I would not recommend you get one if it is never allowed inside, as all dogs want to be with you.
Yes, most definitely. I have a friend who owns two westies, and I myself own a little shih tzu and a chihuahua. Chihuahuas cannot live outside, and neither can shih tzus, as they both are breeds with large eyes which can easily get grass seeds and prickles in them, and tzus have long hair that is easy to matt. However, westies do not have these problems, as they have a medium length coat and they certainly do not have any problem features. It might be a good idea to keep your westie out of the dirt though, as that white coat could get stained easily. Also, when you bring him/her back inside, make sure to check the coat for prickles which may cause matting, and ticks!! You will need to part the hair thoroughly (with a flea comb, preferably) and check each part of the skin. Check for ticks once a week.
No dog likes to live outdoors. A Westie is really no exception and should actually be taken more seriously due to their vulnerable coat of cancer. They must in fact, avoid long hours in the sun. Best to keep your Westie safe with you.
In my book, no! It’s one thing for a heavy-coated working dog to live in an outdoor kennel, but quite another for a dog like a Westie. I’m afraid I don’t understand why you would even consider this.
I kept my little Westie indoors and she would only go out to potty.
They are definitely an indoor dog.
most definitely indoor dogs.
YES…just like any other dog on the planet, purebred or mongrel!
dont think so they are too small and too cute to live outdoors
