Aunt Is Looking For A West Highland White Terrier?

anyone know of where to get one in the southwest michigan area? we already checked petfinder & found one, but it has already been adopted. she is also checking into the local animal shelters. she asked me to check the internet for her, but i have had no luck. she is willing to pay up to $250.00 for one. female prefered, but not necessary. it must be somewhat local. she does not want to have to have it shipped. she wants to meet the dog before purchasing. can be spayed or neutered, can be adult or puppy.

puppyfind.com is a great site. You can do a search on breed and location. Reputable breeders, and hobby breeders (they own both parents, keep up to date on shots, food, the ‘breeders’ are the family pets), and yes, even puppy mills are on the list.
Most if not all will have photographs of the puppies – you’ll soon be able to differentiate between the better-bred puppies and the ones that should not be in breeding. You send an email to the breeder, and more often than not, the breeder will contact you and you begin a great dialogue. I’m sure this is a way for breeders to advertise their puppies without being contacted by brokers or pet stores, and you might be surprised at how many might be near you. A lot of times they also have ‘older’ puppies, or retired breeders, only 2-3 years old, available for a small courtesy fee, as long as you can provide a safe loving home.
We got our scotty from Pennsylvania, talked at length with the breeder who answered all our questions, made sure we had the proper documentation when we received our puppy, and has provided us with a great loving pet.
