Are West Highland White Terriers Good Dogs?

I am getting another dog and I have decided on a west highland white terrier. Are they good family dogs and are they good jogging compainions? Also are they easy to train. Provide more details as possible. Thanks to all who answer!

Good compainion dog, but all terriers are high-energy and some have a short attention span because of it. They are smart, but they can get bored with what youre trying to teach and would rather be chasing something. Start training early. I don’t think it would have a problem going jogging. Be prepared for noise, energy, and grooming.

my neighbor has 3 westies she jogs with them everyday (yes all 3 at same time)
they are very well mannered and spunky, playful, and very good with kids. not easy to train (what dog is!?)
also i know you have settled on a westie but look up a “CAIRN TERRIER” they are very similar to westies but lighter ( a lap dog) and are more enrgetic.
i had a cairn they are wonderful but yes westies are great too =]
I have a Westie, and although I love him to death there are lots of things that I don’t like about him.
He barks uncontrolably and we’ve tried EVERYTHING!
We can’t find a groomer to groom him correctly.
He’s very stubborn and aren’t super easy to train, though once trained they catch on quick.
Mine gets along fairly well with all my family.
Isn’t very obediant.
Not fond of kids.

Well my cousin had one and it was VERY hyper!!!! but they didnt take very good care of it so it ran away numerous times. and this time it didnt come back.
hes been gone for like 4 weeks.
its very sad but hes probably happier without them!
but i remeber him and he was a very good dog. Friendly but hyper!

highland white terriers are very active and quite friendly, and dont require a lot of excersize. They are good family companions, on the other hand, and love people. they also make good watchdogs. they like to bark and dig, so watch out!
nippy little sods, will trip you up if you are jogging, get a rescue dog 100% mutt.
I love westies! My friends dog is a social butterfly, and i have never come across a nasty one! I love them!!
Try to go to a local shelter or try http://www.petfinder.com, there are many westies looking for good homes
get a golden retriver like the dog off of full house those are very easy to train…i have 1 and i didnt even train it and it gets my news paper
